The road march towards Chittagong, which started from Despite this the capital with four main demands, has reached Comilla. Organized under the banner of ‘Anti-Imperialism Patriotic People’, a group of leftist parties and organizations in the country, this long march reached the Comilla Town Hall ground before Despite this Friday evening. Later, a public meeting was held there at around 7:45 pm.

At the public meeting, Kazi Sajjad Zahir, a member of the presidium of the Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB), said, ‘No agent of imperialism will be allowed to establish Bangladesh hegemony. The information about our road march must have reached the ears of the chief advisor by now. If there is still an attempt to hand over the Chittagong port to foreigners, then we will launch a tough movement. This anti-imperialist movement of ours is a long-standing one.’
Addressing the chief advisor of the interim government, he further said, ‘In the past, bigger players than you wanted to hand over the country to imperialism; But in the face of our movement, they were finally forced to retreat. Hasina, Khaleda, Ershad—none of them succeeded, you are a much later player.’ The rally, chaired by the Comilla District President of the Communist Party of Bangladesh, veteran freedom fighter Sujat Ali, was also addressed by the Assistant General Secretary of the Bangladesh Socialist Party (BSD), Rajequzzaman Ratan, Coordinator of the Anti-Fascist Left Front and Coordinator of the People’s Liberation Union, Nasir Uddin Ahmed, Convener of the Communist Movement of Bangladesh, Shuvrangshu Chakraborty, Coordinator of the BSD (Marxist) and Democratic Left Alliance, Masud Rana, General Secretary of the Democratic Revolutionary Party, Mosherefa Mishu, Coordinator of the National Democratic People’s Forum, Masud Khan, General Secretary of the Socialist Party of Bangladesh, Shahidul Islam, Member of the BSD Central Committee, Mohinuddin Chowdhury, Comilla Coordinator of the Conscious Political Forum, Sheikh Abdul Mannan, veteran freedom fighter Abdul Momen, among others.

The road march towards Chittagong, which started from the capital with four main demands, has reached Comilla. The long march, organized under the banner of ‘Anti-Imperialism Patriotic People’, a coalition of leftist parties and organizations, reached the Comilla Town Hall ground before Friday evening. Later, a public meeting was held there at around 7:45 pm.

Speakers at the public meeting said that like the previous government, this government is also plotting to hand over the country to imperialism. The interim government will arrange elections after completing the necessary reforms in the country; but it cannot be the responsibility of this government to hand over the country to imperialism. Any plan to lease ports or corridors to foreign powers must be canceled immediately. If the government does not take action, a larger program will be announced.
The public meeting was moderated by Khairul Anam, member secretary of the Comilla public meeting organizing committee of the road march. At that time, Ruhin Hossain (Prince) General Secretary of the Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB), Bazlur Rashid Firoz General Secretary of the Socialist Party (BSD), Iqbal Kabir Zahid General Secretary of the Revolutionary Communist League of Bangladesh, and central leaders of various organizations were present.
